  2. Small Smelt – Smelts aren’t big and tough. Only Guppies are smaller.
  3. Medium Herring – Not the scariest fish around, but not one who gets pushed around easily either
  4. Big Shark – Better not mess with a Big Shark
  5. Humongous Sailfish – A fish this size is one to be reckoned with. You better have a big hook to catch this one.
  6. Freaking Whale – the largest of all creatures in the ocean. Only a few chosen websites can be whales.

Still a Guppy but I can grow to become a Freaking Whale on the World Wide Web. I just need to follow SEO back links and my blog will grow into the biggest Fish in the Ocean.

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Comment is the word, phrase, sentence or paragraph that is usually post on a specific website. It can be negative, positive, funny, audio, video, picture, lay out, topic related or non topic related. Friendster users call it testimonial, MySpace, Hi5, Multiply, Facebook, Blogger, Wordpress, Digg have it. Most of the blogger over spam it while other hides it. But..

Do not underestimate the power of commentarization, either on your article or other blog’s article. Search engines love those words and from now on you will too. Commenting is an easy and vital tool to increase your traffic.

Referring from Ten Blog Tips, readers sometimes judge a website popularity of having comments, the more the merrier. Also showing off your remarks will be absorbed by search engine so the next time somebody use Google, Yahoo or MSN, they will produce your link. Take note that specific traffic just came from your site. When I started out, I used to search Muffie Shannen and most of the results I got came from other blogs that I commented.

But producing and maintaining comments is a tedious task. But as you go along, it will remarkably useful on your site.

Make sure to reply to show your readers that you value their opinions and draw them into a two-way conversation. This will increase reader’s loyalty. Aside from that always use your SEO words on your reply. For example, your topic is ‘technology’, always use the ‘technology’ word as much as possible.

Second, leave comments on other blogs to drive new traffic. The owner will surely visit your site.

Check Bakit Mas Mahaba Ang Kay Kuya, one of the article I know that got 300+ comments, pretty sure that it drive lots of traffic!

Ten Blog Tips

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

My Muffie Shannen had just turned one month last July 20, 2009. And I couldn’t be happier with the result of my effort in promoting my site.

Here are the steps of promoting my website that I personally used for my first month. Now I want to share these SEO tips for you to get more traffic.

Exchange Link/Blogroll

To get traffic on your site ask co-bloggers to exchange links. The owners of those blogs will find your blog and will add a reciprocal link in their blog rolls. It is an easy way to get the link of your blog in front of many other blogs. And hope that some of their readers will click on your link.

Back Link

Aside from your own article, help promote other article by back linking. These will help your article to gain SEO because it will be noticed by search engine and will also help other blogs to promote their site. As the saying goes, it is better to give than to receive.

Search Engine Optimization

When doing an article optimize your content for search engines to find them.

Social Networking Sites

Submit your article on Friendster, Multiply, Twitter, Plurk, Digg, Facebook and see the increase of your traffic. Also, plug in your blog when chatting, I have an account on Yahoo, Skype, Windows Messenger and Chikka Messenger.

Submit to Search Engines

Submitting your blog to search engines is like submitting your sites to directories on the popular search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN! Most likely your link will be pick up by someone who are searching that is related on your blog. Post frequently to increase the number of chances you have for your blog’s content to be noticed by search engines.

Signature

Add a blog URL in your email signature and business card. Or add a link to your blog in your signature line or profile, so each time you post on a forum or participate in another online network, you’re indirectly promoting your blog. Chances are many people will click on that link to learn more about you. Promoting your blog shouldn’t stop when you step outside the blogosphere. Talk about it in offline conversations. It’s important to get your name and your blog’s URL noticed offline, too.

Comments

It is nice to see that your article made comments so make sure that your website design includes the visibility of comments. Sometimes, visitor judge the popularity of a website by the number of comments. Commenting is a simple and essential tool to increase your blog’s traffic. Make sure to reply on comments to show your readers that you value their opinions and draw them into a two-way conversation. This will increase reader’s loyalty. Second, leave comments on other blogs to drive new traffic. Again, give and receive.

Tag

Tags help your search engine optimization work so if you use it wisely, there is more likely an increase traffic on your site. Tags are like keywords for reader and searcher that might help them find your website. So don’t snub tags when making an article, it’s just a few second to add them.

Article

Make sure that your articles are the things you are interested to write so that you can share it to your reader. Meaningful and interesting topics to your point of view will appear on your written works. And the next thing you know is that readers really enjoyed and became your loyal fan because they can relate on your post.

Be happy

It shows on your blog!

So that’s what I did for my first month, happy monthsary! He he..

Bing Search Engine Optimization

bing

It has been how many days since I started the Muffie Shannen, fifteen or seventeen days? And yet, it still does not make it to Bing search engine, how frustrating! I am not a SEO Guru but I least hope that there is at least one link that appear on Bing. So with my frustration, I researched regarding Bing SEO and found this article for reference..

Microsoft’s new search engine “Bing” will transform the way we all approach to the SEO.

After the release of Bing, those days are history when you must submit your sites to search engines or links from variable sources only to be indexed by search engines.

With the release of Bing, the first thing that would nudge the minds of online marketers is the way to get their sites at the top of search engine results. To get listed on the Bing, the following list is some SEO tips for the internet marketers who want to be crawled by Bing Search Robots:

  1. To make it to the top of Bing, utilization of a title that links to the topic at hand is helpful. It must be unique rather than the titles generally used for the terms. You must also link out. Many marketers don’t like to disconnect, because they fear that their rank will be reduced, especially with Google.
  2. Try to add text to the greatest possible extent. In most search engines, the measure of text on the page is generally not a big factor. But Bing genuinely responds quickly to pages with at least 350 words in the text.
  3. Bing appears to have a lot of interest in how lasting a domain is registered. For marketers, this means that you will be able to purchase more domains if you prefer to get into a secure and genuine positioning in the Bing.
  4. Attempt to only well-formed and grammatical HTML code in your pages. You better be sure to close down every last paired tag, and had better ensure that each link leads to the correct webpage. For more information about the validation of HTML code you may either see HTTP Conditional Get test tool or HTTP compression tool.  The W3C Markup Validation Service is also a choice for users. If your site comprises of broken links then MSNBot won’t be able to index your site effectively, and thereby will prevent net surfers from visiting all of your pages. You’ll be able to find additional details on how to find broken links on your site which may mislead users and thus force them to report broken links about your sites. You can also see the help section of Webmaster Centers Crawl Issues tool.
  5. If you’ve moved a website due to new URL structure or new Domain name, you must reset the page’s original URL to redirect people to the new page. You must also acknowledge the users whether the move is permanent or temporary.
  6. You must make sure that MSNBot is admitted to crawl your site and not on the list of those crawlers who are banned from indexing your site. For further information about these issues, you may check the control of pages of your site if they are indexed or not.
  7. You better utilize a robots.txt file or tags to make sure how MSNBot and other web crawlers index your site. You can utilize the robots.txt file to prevent robots from crawling specific files and folders of your site to keep them hidden.
  8. Make sure all your URLs simple and static. URLs that are complex and mind tangling may also mislead users. In addition, a URL that doesn’t change is easy and comfortable for people to remember and bookmarked. This is what makes your website different, reliable and a more likely linked by other sites or blogs interested on your content.
  9. You had better a look at malware. Beware of links to pages active on your site that may lead the user to malware on third-party websites that contains damaging content which might even cause a problem in the user’s computer.
  10. These include a malicious damaged document or an image file or a malicious JavaScript or ActiveX control. These will be disabled and highlighted as Malware in Bing results pages and will prevent users form visiting form your site by alerting them in different ways.
