Adbrite Advertisement

Friday, October 30th, 2009

After I got kicked out on Adsense, I started using Adbrite. Although I really cannot compare their pay off, I am contented and happy on their system.

First, Adbrite is not that technical conscious and will not easily voted you off if you done something wrong with their guidelines. Plus they have this really cute under link thing also known as inline ads and full page ads, he he..  Especially now that I found a nice way to increase my publication advertisement, yehey! I really got thrilled, after using different method to increase my traffic I noticed that Muffie Shannen got fewer ads so I tried to increase again my viewers. But after pulling some tricks and implementing some method Adbrite’s ads came back!

As you can see Adbrite let advertisers choose which website to show their ads! Nice huh?! They even let sexy or something like that ads pass through! The next thing you will do is spread that you let people market on your website, nice huh?!

Manning Agency

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

As recession continuously hitting every industry, employment is not so easy to find. Not only local but foreign jobs are very big hit! Land based Recruitment and Manning Agencies are helping provide overseas employment in about 170 country destinations. It also affirms the role of the private sector as a legitimate and equally important partner of government in the overseas employment program.

High standard of services and welfare programs are so much needed by our fellow Filipino to continuously help their family. But to do so, you must check the legitimacy of a certain land or sea based agency it should be registered with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and is duly licensed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). The company should audit and conformed to ISO.

An outstanding percentage of Filipino Seafarers are sailing the shipping industry today. A significant number of vessels with thousand of seafarers are onboard at current time. Most of those manned vessels are all Filipino Crew.

Surely maritime industry will be a stepping stone to other to resist the poverty.

Virus Preventive and Removal Tips

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Virus poses a major threat to your computer as well as your files and data. You can get a computer virus anywhere from, sharing storage media such as floppy disc, memory stick, USB, CD/DVD, downloading a file from the internet or installing a program.  Here is a brief description of virus and worms.

Viruses – A virus is a small piece of software that attach on real programs. Each time the application program runs, the virus runs, too, and it has the chance to reproduce by attaching to other programs or spread virus.

Worms – A worm is a small piece of software that uses computer networks and security holes to replicate it but is the most common. A copy of the worm scans the network for another machine that has a specific security hole. It copies itself to the new machine using the security hole, and then starts replicating from there, as well.

If you are smart, you will stop viruses before they enter your computer. You can do this by purchasing an antivirus. Antivirus will check all files of your computer before virus or unwanted file enter and will alert you if a virus is detected before it contaminates your system. If a virus is detected, your antivirus program will quarantine or delete it so that it cannot harm your computer.

Another way is the System Restore, which restores the registry and critical system files to a previous checkpoint. Often a virus will cause a system to hang, and a subsequent hard reboot will render a system restore point from the same day corrupt. Restore points from previous days should work provided the virus is not designed to corrupt the restore files or also exists in previous restore points.

Also Administrators have the option to disable such tools. For example, preventing the downloading or running of an extension file such as filename.exe. With this the security is higher in entering of a virus or unwanted file. Or simply avoid copying or sharing your files and avoid downloading file from the internet. Installing an innocent program might be your step on having a virus.

When you know a virus is running on your computer but the antivirus cannot seem to eradicate it, use the Windows Task Manager. Go to Process and find an unusual image name that you think is a virus then right click and choose End Process.

Mouse and Keyboard Maintenance

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Maintenance of computer peripherals is a must to prolong its life and also to avoid accidents due to negligence of your equipment.

Mouse

If you are still using an old-style mouse with a ball, clean it once a month. Unscrew the retaining ring on the bottom, remove the mouse ball, and use a cotton-tipped swab dipped in tape-cleaning alcohol to clean the rollers inside. Also, make sure that your mouse pad is clean and dust-free and you will prolong its life.

An optical mouse or trackball mouse does not need to be cleaned anywhere near as often. Just dust off the bottom of your mouse and you are ready to use it. Same with mouse ball, make sure that your mouse pad is dust-free.

Keyboard

Do the Keyboard Shake! No, it’s not a new dance craze, but it is the best method of cleaning accumulated gunk from your keyboard. At least once a month, turn your keyboard upside down and shake it vigorously back and forth; prepare to be amazed (or grossed out, especially if the whole family uses your PC).

Find yet another use for your compressed air. Your keyboard can collect debris that can’t be shaken free. If so, using compressed air will likely blow it free. It can also be use on your laptop keyboard, less dangerous than keyboard shake!

For cable management, you can use a spiral wrap on your power cable, monitor cable, keyboard cable and mouse cable. It will minimize the eyesore of cables lying around behind and under your table.

My First Laptop

emachine

I went to Gilmore to find my first Laptop last June 24, 2009 (Manila Day).  I stopped by in our office (we don’t have office due to Manila Day but I still went!) to had my holiday duty with Sir Randy, Paul, Marlo, Tedd, Lexor and Lhet with baby Era (happy birthday baby Era.

At Gilmore..

Around 2 PM, We (me and Jessica) finally made our way on Gilmore Station, LRT 2. Then  welcomed by salesman and saleslady giving away flyers (I think I collected not less than ten flyers)!

My first choice is a netbook – portable, affordable with nice specification, maybe 1 Gb to 2 Gb of RAM and 160 Gb or more hard disk. But I suddenly realized that I want to have a DVD ROM and a larger display.

So after how many years (!) looking for laptop and visiting computer stores one after another, Jessica, tired and hopeless,  told me that we can still look at SM Manila later that day. I’m anxious on Gilmore because  I can’t seem to find a perfect laptop for me! When..

At PC Options Enterprise..

As we about to leave the place, we stumble on PC Options Enterprise. We walked, we looked, and we talked to this guy when I saw this laptop. My first laptop! Finally! I ran my checklist on the spec, ‘Ummhhh, pwede na!’. And purchased the said laptop.

Deal or No Deal..

Not only that I purchased a laptop but I got to take home a cellphone! So lucky that Acer was having their promo, ‘buy laptop take cellphone’!

At My Room..

After formatting and installing drivers and software, my baby is ready to use! So the next time you saw me having a new post, remember I made it here..

Monitors and Scanners Maintenance

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Here are the tips on properly maintain and clean  your monitor and scanner:

Do not use abrasives on your monitors and scanners. Even some household glass cleaners which you might think could be trusted can scratch the glass in your monitor or flatbed scanner when used with a rag or paper towel. With a scanner, small scratches can mean real trouble because a scratch can easily show up in your images at higher resolutions. You should use only a dry, soft photographer’s lens cloth with alcohol that are made specifically for monitors and scanners. Any scratch on your monitor can distract if you are viewing of pictures or video.

Monitors

Monitors should never be opened. Never take the cover off any type of monitor, even if it needs cleaning. Why? Well, your monitor is one of the two components of your system that carry enough voltage to seriously hurt you. If your monitor needs to be serviced or cleaned on the inside, take it to your local computer shop.

Scanners

Never spray liquids onto a flatbed scanner. If liquid gets under the glass and into the body of the scanner, you could end up with condensation on the inside of the scanner when you use it and might be the cause of major trouble or defect on your scanners. A dry, photographer’s lens cloth is a good choice.

Use a cover for your scanner. Scanners are somewhat different from most external peripherals. They don’t generate any heat while they’re on, and most of us only use a scanner once or twice a week. Therefore, your scanner is a perfect candidate for a cover that will keep it clean.

E Voucher – My First Baby

E Voucher

I started programming using Microsoft Visual FoxPro last August 2008. My first project – Electronic Voucher also known as E Voucher. Although I am not familiar with programming and I really sucked in codes (I can’t even make a decent program when I was in college), I was forced to do the project because our first Solution Developer left.

I started with the basic, the Add, the Edit and the Delete, and being an optimistic I thought it was easy! But as the demand of the function increased, same with pressure I got. Remember that I don’t have any background in any kind of programming language. E-Voucher could have been easy but the facts it consist of accounting chuva chenez make it worse! Cash and Check Voucher, Report Expenses, Summary of Accounts and Summary of Expenses – please bring me back to Technical Support!

I spent so many hours working and developing my knowledge in Microsoft Visual FoxPro on that project. Cases such as late night work, Saturday duty and Holiday duty are pretty known and common to me. And I had learned a lot on that project especially the ‘work around’ technique. My boss introduce to me the meaning of work around, and I have a different meaning on that word – an improvise function that is hidden within your codes intended to replace a code that is not yet known to me.

Aside from that I had this bizarre dream at night where I was still coding. Plus my social life temporary disappeared. But let’s not make my first baby a monster! I am happy that I got that project because I am here where I suppose to be. I was forced to study and learn, and it was not so bad. I had sacrificed a lot but it’s all worth it. Now my horizon is getting wider and I it all started on my E Voucher.

Now I dedicate a part of my blog on program codes to those who might want to learn or looking for codes. Hope that this might help others not to turn to work around.

Watch out for more Microsoft Visual FoxPro codes that I used in E Voucher, Muffie Shannen signing off..
