panglao bohol

Panglao is an island in the Philippines located in the Central Visayas. I never expect it to be so beautiful.. I will go to Bohol over and over again, to swim in the blue, clear water, to play in the fine, white sand, to check around to the amazing animals from the water. Panglao is truly amazing!
Currently Panglao is one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines, famous for its beautiful dive spots and its coral reef, as well as many several islet ideal for beach bathing like the islets of Gak-ang and Pontod.

Edge Coaster

edge coaster

edge coaster

The Edge Coaster is the first of its kind in the country where you are safely and tightly fastened in a coaster that is tilted 55 degrees and revolves around the 38th floor of the Crown Regency Hotel and Towers in Cebu City.

The first of its kind in the whole world – an amusement ride installed at the edge of a hotel building – riding the Edge Coaster is definitely a unique experience of mixed fear, excitement, and fun as you feel like floating or falling off from Cebu skies.
With the amazing view from the top, you would seem to have toured the entire Cebu City during the duration of your ride. What’s better news is that the coaster is just one of the facilities of the Sky Adventure Experience project of Crown Regency. Other features of the project are the Sky bar, Sky Walk, Sky Lounge, and soon, the Insanity Orbit.

E.A.T. Danao or Extreme/Eco/Educational Adventure Tour, an ecotourism concept set up to benefit the Municipality of Danao, Bohol and its people. It is a  facility with a huge nature park that used to be the base camp of the revered Boholano Hero Francisco Dagohoy who led the longest Philippine Revolutionary Movement.
Suislide is basically a zip-line consisting of a pulley suspended on a cable mounted on an incline cliff. The Suislide has two lines, going forth and back. Its starting point is parallel to the Sky Ride and Plunge’s height.
Suislide is the local version for zipline, a sky ride or a slide for life. Sui-slide is coined from the word, “Suis“ or the sound of the cable ride once you get to slide and “slide”. It could also mean for some who is so much petrified with heights to be a suicidal slide. It traverses around half a kilometer from one mountain to another, taking you to less than a minute exhilarating ride.

One of Bohol’s well-known restaurants is the Loboc Floating Restaurants. The Loboc Floating Restaurants comprise of different boats that cruise along the Loboc River. Each boat has a different restaurant that basically offers a buffet-style, native Filipino cuisine. The price, which is about 300 pesos for adults, is basically the same for all boats, as the menu items are the only ones that differ. As the boat cruises along the river, guests can enjoy live music both inside the boat, and during stopovers, when they are serenaded by singing groups from Bohol. The restaurants are found near Loay Bridge near the Loboc River.
As the boat takes of, the buffet begins. On the middle table all kinds of Philippine delicacies are presented, and while eating, you can enjoy the lush green landscape slowly sliding along your table. The small outboard engine works hard to move the vessel against the current. Life along the river side goes on as it must have done for centuries, with children swimming, people passing by in small bankas or canoes. On certain points along the trip, daring kids climb in a large coconut tree overhanging the river, and jump in the water very close to the floating restaurant.
The end of the trip, which takes about an hour is Busay Falls. The falls are not high, about one and a half meter at most, but mark the point where the floating restaurant cannot go any further, so here they stay for a while to allow the guest to look at the landscape. After some time, the return trip starts. Going downstream, we return much faster to our point of return.

Baclayon Church

baclayon church muffie shannen

The Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in Baclayon is considered to be one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. It is one of the best presevered Jesuit build churches in the region, although in the 19th century, the Augustinian Recollects added a modern facade and a number of stone buildings that now surround the church. The first Spanish missionaries or doctrineros in the region, Fr. Juan de Torres and Fr. Gabriel Sanchez, first settled in Baclayon in 1595. Shortly after their arrival, a visita was erected on the spot. Although Baclayon was the first seat of the Spanish Jesuit missionaries, fear of Moro mauraders soon forced them to move their headquarters more inland, to Loboc. Only in 1717, Baclayon became a parish, and construction of a new church commenced. Some 200 native forced laborers constructed the church from coral stones, which they took from the sea, cut into square blocks, and piled on to each other. They used bamboo to move and lift the stones in position, and used the white of a million eggs as to cement them together. The current building was completed in 1727. The church obtained a large bell in 1835. In the Baclayon church is a dungeon, which was used to punish natives who violated the rules of the Roman Catholic Church.

Skywalk Adventure at Cebu

skywalk adventure

“It is totally safe.”
These were the four reassuringly confident words that Crown Regency Cebu Hotel Sky Experience Adventure general manager William “Bill” Killgore told us as we conquered our fear of heights at the Sky Walk Extreme.
Located at the 37th floor of the Crown Regency Cebu, the Sky Walk Extreme lets thrill-seekers walk around the edge of the building, incidentally the tallest hotel structure in the Philippines. He said, “This is the first in the country and the 360-degree view is just awesome. It passed international safety standards, so don’t fear.”
For starters, the Walk can hold up to 5,000 pounds. There is a harness that will be strapped very securely around you. Even if you fall off, which is a long shot, you’re not going down. You’ll just hang for awhile. Besides, you won’t be doing the Crown Regency Cebu Sky Walk Extreme alone. There are guides who will walk along with you.
Richard King, chairman and CEO of J. King & Sons, is proud of his brainchild. “The Crown Regency Cebu Sky Experience Adventure is the latest attraction in the world’s amusement industry. Nowhere else can you find an amusement center like this at the top of a hotel building.”
King declared, “We are definitely taking the hospitality industry to exciting new tangents. Our future hotel projects will also have rides and thrills similar to this.”
The rides at Crown Regency Cebu are not stopping with the Sky Walk Extreme and Edge Coaster. In 2010, the Insanity Orbit will take a bow. The Insanity Orbit, which is being installed at the 40th floor of the building, is an inverted centrifuge that will take passengers on a spin at up to three Gs. It will pull riders out in escape-proof seats to an angle of 70 degrees, tilting passengers face down from the top floor. The Insanity Orbit will be the second ride of its kind in the world, following the Stratosphere.
Killgore said, “The Crown Regency Cebu Sky Adventure is the total experience. We have the rides, the restaurants, the live bands, and the hotel. It is a one-stop shop. There is nothing like it in the Philippines. People interested in roller coasters must have thought that they only existed in other countries. Here in Cebu, it is accessible and reasonably priced.”
“All this is our humble contribution to our tourism industry. We are proud to say that Cebu is the only spot in the world where you can find this kind of excitement,” King concluded.

The Chocolate Hills are probably Bohol’s most famous tourist attraction. They look like giant mole hills,The chocolate hills consist of are no less than 1268 hills . They are very uniform in shape and mostly between 30 and 50 meters high. They are covered with grass, which, at the end of the dry season, turns chocolate brown. From this color, the hills derive their name. At other times, the hills are green, and the association may be a bit difficult to make.
Legend has it that the hills came into existence when two giants threw stones and sand at each other in a fight that lasted for days. When they were finally exhausted, they made friends and left the island, but left behind the mess they made. For the more romantically inclined is the tale of Arogo, a young and very strong giant who fell in love with an ordinary mortal girl called Aloya. After she died, the giant Arogo cried bitterly. His tears then turned into hills, as a lasting proof of his grief.
