My Muffie Shannen had just turned one month last July 20, 2009. And I couldn’t be happier with the result of my effort in promoting my site.
Here are the steps of promoting my website that I personally used for my first month. Now I want to share these SEO tips for you to get more traffic.
Exchange Link/Blogroll
To get traffic on your site ask co-bloggers to exchange links. The owners of those blogs will find your blog and will add a reciprocal link in their blog rolls. It is an easy way to get the link of your blog in front of many other blogs. And hope that some of their readers will click on your link.
Aside from your own article, help promote other article by back linking. These will help your article to gain SEO because it will be noticed by search engine and will also help other blogs to promote their site. As the saying goes, it is better to give than to receive.
When doing an article optimize your content for search engines to find them.
Social Networking Sites
Submit your article on Friendster, Multiply, Twitter, Plurk, Digg, Facebook and see the increase of your traffic. Also, plug in your blog when chatting, I have an account on Yahoo, Skype, Windows Messenger and Chikka Messenger.
Submit to Search Engines
Submitting your blog to search engines is like submitting your sites to directories on the popular search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN! Most likely your link will be pick up by someone who are searching that is related on your blog. Post frequently to increase the number of chances you have for your blog’s content to be noticed by search engines.
Signature
Add a blog URL in your email signature and business card. Or add a link to your blog in your signature line or profile, so each time you post on a forum or participate in another online network, you’re indirectly promoting your blog. Chances are many people will click on that link to learn more about you. Promoting your blog shouldn’t stop when you step outside the blogosphere. Talk about it in offline conversations. It’s important to get your name and your blog’s URL noticed offline, too.
Comments
It is nice to see that your article made comments so make sure that your website design includes the visibility of comments. Sometimes, visitor judge the popularity of a website by the number of comments. Commenting is a simple and essential tool to increase your blog’s traffic. Make sure to reply on comments to show your readers that you value their opinions and draw them into a two-way conversation. This will increase reader’s loyalty. Second, leave comments on other blogs to drive new traffic. Again, give and receive.
Tag
Tags help your search engine optimization work so if you use it wisely, there is more likely an increase traffic on your site. Tags are like keywords for reader and searcher that might help them find your website. So don’t snub tags when making an article, it’s just a few second to add them.
Article
Make sure that your articles are the things you are interested to write so that you can share it to your reader. Meaningful and interesting topics to your point of view will appear on your written works. And the next thing you know is that readers really enjoyed and became your loyal fan because they can relate on your post.
Be happy
It shows on your blog!
So that’s what I did for my first month, happy monthsary! He he..
